EPRC Hosts Visit from Norwegian Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.

The European Policies Research Centre (EPRC) recently helped to host a three-day visit from colleagues at the Norwegian Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development. Enabled through EPRC’s EoRPA network, the high-level visit provided an opportunity for exchange with policymakers and practitioners in Scotland on regional economic development policy, with a particular focus on shared challenges relating to skills development and access in remote and rural areas.

The first day included a visit to the Scottish Government, where discussions highlighted a wide range of common development issues and enabled valuable dialogue on innovative policy responses.

On the second day, the delegation visited UHI Perth. The visit showcased the institution’s innovative approaches to delivering education and training in remote and rural communities, as well as the importance of strong local and regional partnerships. The day concluded with a spectacular meal prepared by the university’s talented hospitality and cookery students.

The final day, held at EPRC, provided an opportunity for wider discussion, including presentations from Stefan Kah and Richard Cairns.

Overall, the visit proved highly valuable, underlining the importance of knowledge exchange and highlighting the many shared interests and connections between Scotland and Norway.
